Why "fast bikes, slow journalism"?

As a car-free journalist who covers transportation and infrastructure in LA, I’m constantly trying to answer the question: Why?

Why doesn’t LA have enough bus shelters? Why do we only have 14 free-standing public bathrooms? Why are all the sidewalks broken?

Mixie will cover topics like these using public records, on-the-ground reporting and snark. Personally, I believe that public spaces should be welcoming and accessible to all, especially people outside of cars.

Because requesting public records takes time, but bikes and buses should fly like the wind.
